Saturday Mar 19, 2022
I had the pleasure of having the CEO of Desert Rose Counseling Group Bianca McCall, LMFT on the show to give us ways to prevent suicide. Not just for men but also with our partners and children. She starts with the definition of “What is Mental Health”. In her practice she changes the focus to Mental Fitness which changes our focus to being fit for everyday life. Bianca explains how we as humans need to be careful of the company we keep, the information we let into our heads from social media, things we watch, and listen to. All of it affects our mental health. We have to be more aware of our mental fitness. Bianca tells us about ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) which directly link trauma that we may have experienced in our childhood that affects our mental health. She gives us ways we can identify stress and how we can normalize experiences that we may have occurred. Bianca explains how we as parents have to be the model that we want our children to be. How we as parents need to better understand what our young people know but not the language to explain what they are feeling. How we as parents have to be careful of the language we use with our kids. She tells us how our kids lose hope. Bianca tells us when a person commit suicide it is not because that what to but are willing to die for something.
